Voice Actor: John Noble

Bio:

A man of true intellect, Jonathan Crane fell from grace when he became absorbed by his own experiments dwelling into fear and the incredible effects it can have on a person's psychological condition. Bullied throughout his youth, Crane seemed to conquer his own fears by becoming a master at such a natural and primal feeling through his research. Having developed an incredible gas agent that amplifies a person's worst fears and brings it to life in a horrifying fashion in his or her mental state, Crane guised himself into the terrifying image of The Scarecrow.

Special Attacks:

  • Fear Ball: Scarecrow shoots a ball of fear toxins from his syringes at his opponent.
  • Canister: Scarecrow throws a fear canister at his opponent.
  • Nightmare Dash: Scarecrow zips through his opponent with a slash of his syringes.
  • Scarecrow Fingers: Scarecrow shoots a giant projectile shaped like his clawed hand at his opponent.
  • From Hell: Scarecrow summons a bloody torn-up zombie from the ground under his opponent and grabs onto him/her. Until five seconds later when it disappears, the zombie constantly bites at the opponent's leg.

Fatalities:

  • Nightmare Fuel: Scarecrow injects his syringes onto his opponent, followed by the following three options that will lead to a quick flash of the infamous picture of Smile before cutting to the location based on the chosen option.
  • -Y/Electrocution Chamber: The opponent is trapped inside a glass chamber in a dark, technological dome. The opponent gets electrocuted in the chamber for five seconds until he/she explodes into bloody and gutsy pieces.
  • -A/Meat Shredder: The opponent is falling down a pit similar to the game over sequence from Mortal Kombat 4, only there's a couple of buzz saws and other sharp-edged mechanical cutting devices all over the pit. The opponent falls onto those sharp instruments and gets shredded to bloody chunks.
  • -B/Dead Hand: The opponent is trapped in the Bottom of the Well from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Dead Hand arrives to the scene along with six disembodied arms. The hands all grab onto the opponent and they all rip him/her apart.
  • Welcome to Hell: Scarecrow injects his syringes onto his opponent. The scene shifts to the horrifying red and black stage from the Nightmare Challenges in Batman: Arkham Knight. A giant Scarecrow emerges from the water and he picks up his opponent, only to then slam the opponent onto the street concrete, splattering him/her into pieces.
  • Nightmare Fuel II: Scarecrow injects his syringes onto his opponent, followed by the following three options that will lead to a quick flash of the infamous picture of Smile before cutting to the location based on the chosen option.
  •  -Y/It's Freddy!: The opponent is seen in a very dark alley. He/She then comes across Freddy Krueger, who summons a large furnace. He then stabs the opponent in the neck and stomach, and chucks them straight into the furnace. As they burn in agony, Freddy waves goodbye and shuts the door, cutting their arm off, and burning them to death.
  •  -A/Go To Sleep!: The opponent is seen in bed, confused. We then see Jeff The Killer come in, who headbutts his opponent onto the ground and then, as the camera then cuts to the opponent's first-person view, he ducks down to stare at him/her real close saying, "Shhh. Just go to sleep." and then he slowly raises his knife ad repeatedly stabs him/her, covering the screen with splattered blood as the opponent screams in agony.
  •  -B/Dimensional Murder: The opponent is seen in a dark forest. The mysterious tall being known as Slender Man appears before him/her, and grabs his opponent, opens up a portal and drags himself with the opponent and begins to brutalize him/her inside that portal, causing blood to fly out of the portal. Five seconds later, he comes out of the portal, holding his mutilated opponent with his right hand and grinning at the screen with bloody teeth, implying that he was eating his opponent.

X-Ality:

  • Bone-Shattering Fear: Scarecrow injects his syringes onto his opponent. Every part of the opponent's skeletal system starts shattering to pieces, accompanied by bloody explosions that go along with them, from the femur, to the radius, to the sternum along with ribs to finally the skull. The opponent falls dead all mangled up and covered in his/her own blood.

Friendship:

Scarecrow and his opponent see a string descend from above. Scarecrow pulls the string to scroll down a white sheet that is projected on, slowly loading a picture of a shirtless Sub-Zero presumably stripping nude. When the loading almost goes down to the pelvic area, the scene cuts to a demented and macabre image of Mario with sharp teeth and black eyes holding a bloody sharp object, accompanied by a stock shriek of terror as the picture zooms close to the screen until it stops by the face around the borders.

Intro Sequence:

A canister of fear gas rolls onto the battlefield. It starts emitting fear gas everywhere, which fogs up the scene, only to reveal Scarecrow arrive to the battlefield. He says, "I am your worst nightmare."

Victory Sequence:

The screen cuts to static and we are treated with Scarecrow sitting in a smoky background (the same one from one of the Batman: Arkham Knight trailers). With his head down, he says, "What you have seen was not horrifying enough..." He then turns his head up facing the camera and says, "...But this will be." and then a picture of The Joker from New 52 zooms in to the screen, accompanied by a short stock scream.

Associated Stage:

Arkham Asylum (as seen in Batman: Arkhamverse)
-BGM:www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1QUZz…

Ending:

Dr. Jonathan Crane wanted to exploit people's worst nightmares with use of fear gas. He even armed himself with syringes that contain the chemicals that create the fear gas. Lately, Link has become a victim of one of his experiments. Scarecrow led Link to a nightmarish hallucination. The Song of Healing was in reverse, Elegies of Emptiness taking positions as pillars, and blood began to leak from Link's eyes. As Link started burning to his death, the last thing he has ever heard was Scarecrow telepathically telling him, "You shouldn't have done that."
Hello, everyone. We now finally move onto the two guest characters. The first of the two will be Batman's most feared (so to speak) adversary, Scarecrow!

Notes and Trivia:
  • Scarecrow's first Fatality is a three-option that was inspired by Giygas' portrayal in M.U.G.E.N. If you've seen videos of Giygas in action, you'd be familiar with all this (except for the third option, which contains a cameo of Dead Hand from Ocarina of Time).
  • His second Fatality derives from one of the stage transitions in the Arkham Asylum stage from Injustice: Gods Among Us as well as it is a homage to the Nightmare Challenges in Batman: Arkham Knight.
  • Scarecrow's Friendship is basically a screamer that tricks the viewer into thinking that a picture of Sub-Zero stripping naked (what that pic would look like is up for imagination) until it cuts to this nightmare fueling picture of Mario.i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/o…
  • It should be noted that Scarecrow's victory pose is a reference to one of Giygas's creepy animations in M.U.G.E.N.www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxlFoF…
  • The BGM that plays in Arkham Asylum (Scarecrow's associated stage) is Short Change Hero (by The Heavy).
  • Scarecrow's ending is one big homage to the Creepypasta known as Ben Drowned.
